...and lots of fun was had. I was busy making notes last night and this morning to prepare for the meet report. The burst of creativity got well and truly squashed when I realised I did not have a one PM start, but instead an eight AM one.

This was at nine AM. Called work and arranged to work from one to ten, seeing as I was going to be e-mailing anyway. Discovered facebook is still not blocked at work (*hums innocently*) and generally made people jealous by talking about the lovely sailing weekend.

There will be a proper report later this week, but in short: ducks, lolcats, pirates, surprise man-overboard routines, heave-to, discovering boats have bits that can leave bruises in interesting places, hugs, sour sweeties, halva (were'd the halva go?), expensive (but very nice) fud, shiny people, water, wind, boats, gaggles andandand *yay*.

I shall go fall over and be dead in a bit. I'm knackered, but in a good way.

My weekend

Short version:

Shiny!

Slightly longer version:

Got up at silly o'clock on Saturday; spent 4 hours onna train; waited at the station; met some new shiny people; faffed about with hair dye; had my hair faffed about with bleach (yay! blonde!); dressed up; watched dressing up happen (pretty corsets! and skirts! and jackets! andandandshiny); bounced around on VNV Nation (Eeeeeeeeeee! *bouncebounce*); saw all sorts of weird and wonderful outfits (sometimes with gorgeous people in them as well); lazed about on Sunday; watched Who; had nice risotto for dinner; took a train home; ate too many cccbs during the journey and am now trying to pry myself off the ceiling.

It was a nice weekend. I wouldn't mind rewinding and doing it again.

Went to Amsterdam yesterday with Tam and Snow and had lots of fun. We went to Wagamama for lunch (green tea bavarois is absolutely gorgeous), and then wandered over to Lush to buy goodies. I may have gone slightly overboard on the glittery shiny products, but they were glittery and shiny! How could I resist? (Yes, I'm fairly certain I was a magpie in a previous life.)

After Lush, we made our way to the American Bookstore and later a second hand bookstore. I behaved myself and in the end have only bought about a dozen books in total. One of them's a Chinese cookery encyclopedia from the 70s. It's marvelous. It's got a recipe in it called 'Pork of Original Preciousness'. I'm almost tempted to make it. And I also have a recipe for 1000 year old eggs. It's scary. The recipe calls for water, pine ash, salt and lime. I'm not sure whether that's quicklime or slaked lime. I'm guessing the former, because the idea is that the eggs are cooked slowly over 45 days. I should make these things, if only to satisfy my geek side, which just loves playing with potentially dangerous substances...

We spent the rest of the afternoon in a good pub called 'De Bekeerde Suster', which I highly recommend. They have nice beer, a good atmosphere and it's within walking distance of the station. We spent some time browsing through our purchases (my Meow Te Ching written by Meow Tsu was popular :) ) and had good beer to keep us company.

Eventually we made our way to the station (passing through the red light district where we window-shopped :)) and went our separate ways from there. I got home around 10 to find a nice surprise waiting for me. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] st_lemur, I am now the proud owner of an Optimus Prime figure (with an apron). I spent the next two hours trying to get it back to being a truck. and then I turned it back into Optimus Prime. And then back into a truck again. It makes me very happy. In fact, I think I'll go play with it some more.

Just got home from the Firefly weekend. It was lots of fun, as these things usually are. We watched quite a lot of Firefly (and managed to convert [livejournal.com profile] da_pol), drank scary red booze (among other things), almost finished a whole jar of G&B chocolate spread and had nice Indian food.

It was a good weekend.

I have arrived (or at least, I did so on Friday), and I've been having lots of fun. I spent the first few days in London with [livejournal.com profile] hobnobs and [livejournal.com profile] the_ladylark. We wandered around London for a bit on Saturday before going to the Barbican for a performance of Grieg and Holst (yay slinky dresses(TM)!) (Also, eeee! Shiny Music(TM!). On Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] hobnobs showed me around the Natural History museum and the Science museum (again, shiny).

Monday was mostly spent loafing around. Went out to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] st_lemur in the evening, which was unfortunately cut short because I was feeling ill.

Tuesday morning was spent packing and loafing around again until it was time to leave so we could have lunch at Nando's before I had to get to Euston, get on a train to Milton Keynes to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] da_pol.

We drove up north yesterday evening, and I took part in my very first pub quiz, which was lots of fun. So now I'm up north with still the biggest part of my holiday to come. *glee*

(I'm also completely incoherent and unable to string words together in a proper sentence, so sorry for the rather boring tone of the update. I'm having fun, really! I've been having so much fun my brain's stopped working, I guess.)

England! Lunnon! Manc! Leaving this Friday! *bouncebouncebounce* Slight change in plans as well. I'll be flying home on the 20th instead of the 18th. *more bouncing*

I'm really looking forward to it. It's been over a year since I've been and that's just too long.
