A simply glorious day. Lots of sunshine and warmth. I was sorry to have to go to work, because it would have been nice to sit outside in the sun and try to get a bit of a tan. Not that I'd've been successful, as I'm as pale as a very pale thing and it takes me days of sunshine to get from "lights up a dark room" to "I blind people when light hits me".
Still, it was a lovely day. I went to work around noon and spent about half an hour lazing on the balcony at work before I had to start. One nifty thing about working Saturdays is that no one's there. This meant I could sit in my favourite spot (a flat roof connected to the balcony). There's something lovely and calming about being able to just sit and let the sunshine wash over you. A few co-workers joined me and, for once, there was no talking. Just lounging and enjoying the wonderful weather.
During my lunch break (or dinner break, really), I decided not to go to the balcony, but to go sit outside on the grass next to the pond in front of the building. I must have made people who were passing wonder (there's a large hospital opposite where I work), since I was sitting at the edge of the pond with no shoes on, and my feet in the water. I spent nearly all of my lunch break outside, just lounging on the grass with my feet in the water and feeding the coots and ducks.
I love spring. I especially love it when it's like this. It's warm and glorious and not at all stuffy and hot like it would be in summer. I love feeling the spring breeze on my skin, and sticking my feet into spring-cool water. I love walking around barefoot and smell the flowers and trees, and to practically see the new leaves and flowers growing. Not to mention grass; there's something truly special about the feel and scent of young grass.
Days like this make me want to find the nearest tree, climb it and then spend the rest of the day just watching the world go by. Or to find a lovely field of grass and lounge around on a blanket all day watching the sky.
Days like this make me want to sing and dance until I can't breathe and my heart feels like it's about to burst.
Days like this make me happy.
