What is it with self-professed Tolkien fans writing the name as 'Tolkein'?

We're not talking genuine misspelling the word once. I'm talking about persistently writing 'Tolkein'. It's not cute. It's not clever. It's stupid and makes me want to reach through my monitor and slap you silly. If you're such a big fan, respect the name.
