Got up at 6:45, looked out the window and went 'Snow!', left the house at slightly past 7:00. Got out of the village (just) and halfway up Bonis Hall Lane when it started snowing again at which point I went 'Fuck this for a game of soldiers' and turned around at the earliest opportunity. Now, I know how to drive in snow. I really do. The big problem is that a) I know how to drive in snow in .nl, where things are...well...flat. Here there's ups and downs and corkscrews and bends and bears and tigers oh my. And b) the majority of the people on the road this morning obviously did not know how to drive in snowy conditions.
Revving up a hill when there's snow on the incline? Bad idea.
40 miles an hour on a twisty, windy road where a gritter has obviously not been for the past two hours? Really bad idea.
Carrying your godsbedamned foglights and/or high beams because it's snowing yet you can still see more than a hundred yards? Really bad fucking idea!
So I turned around not just because I felt personally unsafe to drive in snow. I turned around because the road was filled with fucknuggets who should've taken one look out of the window and at minimum gone 'Hmmm. Snow. Let's take extra care out there.'.
Now, without further ado: pics!
