We could get an exercise bike. Yes. That would be a very good idea indeed. We would use it a lot because we like cycling. We sometimes choose to walk because we can't read while cycling, though. An exercise bike means we could cycle while listening to music or audio or even while reading a book. And we'd get tocycle on cold bad days like today. We'd get healthier and in better shape and then we'd be set for life! It'll be awesome!

Argos sells one for less than £100 too. Isn't that great? We should totally do that! It's not indulgent like a new MP3 player. Why do you want one anyway? This one's fine. That's so typically you, always wanting new things that you don't need and don't benefit you. It's very selfish. Exercise bike is much better. So you should totally forget about that MP3 player and just go get an exercise bike. Now. You can worry about your overdraft and stuff later.

No time like the present!

Come on! Seize the day! If you don't invest in your health now, there might not be a you to be fiscally responsible!

Don't you want to get into better shape and get your asthma under control so you can get on with DIY stuff?

Hello?

Hmm?

What's this?

Dear brainweasels,

Let's play a little game!

Please find enclosed a budget showing how you can sensibly save £100 in three months.

The rules are simple:

- If, and only if, you put £100 in the new ISA by year's end, I will buy you an exercise bike. If you haven't reached £100 by December 31st, you lose.

- No taking money from other parts of the budget.

- Don't try to manipulate me. Any attempt to shift your focus to another shiny or "needful" thing means you lose. Any attempt at emotional manipulation means you lose.

Losing means any money saved gets earmarked for any purpose other than satisfying your ludicrous demands.

If you really want a damned exercise bike that badly, prove it.

Sincerely,

Me
(Who's been putting up with your shit for way too long and has finally cottoned on to your head games)
