Jun. 23rd, 2011 12:59 pmMy hair is once again short after a trip to the hairdresser's yesterday. I like it. Maybe once I'll have a job I'll get it dyed interesting colours again as well.
Life continues apace. I'm writing something most every day (some days I mentally file away ideas or dreams I've had and make a note of it later). Last night's dream was interesting. I took an entrance exam for an adult school of magic. This world had magical education for children as well, but a significant number of adults discovered their talents in later life that an adult school was also necessary. I can't remember the entrance exam, but it did involve running around an abandoned building with two other prospective students. All three of us passed with flying colours.
The adult talents are no different than those that develop in earlier life, but they come through stronger and need external devices as a focus to ensure we don't blow ourselves up first go. I got rather nifty leather and copper filigreed fingerless gloves. The two others got a headband and a chestpiece respectively. Apparently there's also someone wandering about with kneepads (I don't know!). The internal logic of it all means there's probably someone running around with a codpiece too.
We ended up discovering or being given access to fullsize humanoid constructs that guarded our own personal lair. Mine was a tower room backing onto a cliff. My construct and I carved out part of the cliff to create a garden, because I needed access to herbs and plants and animals to do my work.
One of my friends failed to continue activating his construct and it went berserk, letting in horrible creatures men were not meant to wot of and all that kind of stuff. It was all very exciting.
And the Alex opened the curtains. This pissed me off slightly and there may have been some incoherent grumbling.
In other news: I turn 32 this Sunday. There may or may not be a party at a later date, but the day itself will be spent running around with an airsoft gun in the company of friends and strangers. I may demand Thai takeaway for dinner too. (My life is incredibly exciting. :))

Date: 2011-06-23 12:55 pm (UTC)I wish I could remember all of mine, it would make for a great short story. I'm currently scribbling bits down as they try to flee my attention.
