The (Mis)Adventures of...er...me
Apr. 26th, 2005 02:57 pmYes, believe it or not I managed to hurt myself...again. This time I damaged a tendon in my right hand, by hitting my hand against the tip of our very very sharp knife. This was last night. It didn't really bleed or anything, it just hurt like hell.
This morning it was very painful, and I decided to have it checked by my GP (mostly because the aforementioned knife had been used to cut raw chicken with). Imagine my surprise when he told me the following: I managed to cut it in half. And the only reason I didn't tear it off completely was because I didn't move my hand around at all yesterday (it hurt). Excuse me while I sit down and feel faint, okay?
I feel a bit stupid. And very very lucky.

So, is it all strepped up until it heals like they did with my wrist a few weeks back (where I managed to partially tear the tendon in my left wrist)?
One handed typing sucks if you're normally a two handed typist!

This is me hoping I didn't screw up my hand to much :/

Date: 2005-04-26 03:25 pm (UTC)If they strap yours like they strapped mine (brace type thing with a metal strap down it to restrict movement) - and give you a warning to give it *complete* rest - you won't be able to get home! Is there no-one else who can get you there?
Or have you got an automatic so it's only manoeuvering that will be tricky with one hand?

Date: 2005-04-26 09:37 pm (UTC)lest nobody else told you yet: Don't do that kind of thing! Please!
I wish I could say you were special (and you are in many respects!) in this respect, but I had the doubtful pleasure of seeing someone else doing simple cutting of vegetables... Let's just say, it *started* with *yellow* bell peppers...
Be careful with your arm until you have confirmation or treatment that it's alright to use it normally (where "normal" does *not* involve cutting open! ;-)) again.
Take care
