That was possibly one of the most unpleasant medical experiences I've had. Not even really because of the pain (though there were some incredibly painful bits), but mostly the incredibly unsettled and...wrong sensation of having Stuff Happen Inside. The pain helped because it at least gave me something to focus on, so when it went away (yay, local anaesthetic) all I was left with was my body telling me that there was something bad happening inside my uterus and why wasn't I doing something about it?

But eventually the old coil was removed (multiload IUD, which explains why it was a bugger to remove) and replaced with a standard T-shaped copper coil and I was sent on my way.

I am now crampy and weepy and very tired. I'm wandering around the house whining because I'm tired and crampy and I want to sleep but I can't because I'm hungry and crampy, but I can't eat because I'm tired and nauseous and also crampy and waaaaaah. Also, when I stand up or move my head, the world goes 'whommmmm' and slips sideways. This is all completely normal and expected and will pass in a few hours. I.e. when the anaesthetic wears off, because then the really fun cramps will start.

So I'll just be over here going 'wursplaaagh' and pray for death.
