How mundane things make me happy

Five days off!
Driving home from work took nearly an hour, whereas it usually takes about 30 minutes. It was half past four and the roads were packed. People have no damn clue on how to bloody drive during a traffic jam. Came home and took the dog for a long walk. I lost her halfway through because she spotted a hare and tried to catch it, of course. I knew she wouldn't be able to catch it, and there was no way she was coming back to me until she'd tired herself out. I therefore decided to walk back home and wait for her there, as it'd started raining about halfway through the walk.
As soon as she saw me heading back down the path, madam decided the hare was not that interesting and followed me home. I took the shortcut, she took the long way 'round. By the time I entered the front door, she was standing at the back gate whining to be let in. She's now in her basket, completely zonked out and snoring.
I then had roast chicken for dinner (unfortunately no roast potatoes, due to excessive charcoaling) and home-made chocolate pudding for dessert. I'm now relaxing with a silly pod-book calledNina Kimberly the Merciless. I highly recommend it. It's a fun fantasy novel whose main protagonist is a barbarian princess. She didn't have many friends in the palace as a child because they didn't like her taking over the doll house through bloody conquest. Reasonably pointing out that her barbarian doll had no reason to put the other (civilian) dolls to the sword if they'd just surrender to it didn't really cut it.
All in all, a good day.
