1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Was asked to apply for a job. Moved to the UK.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My new year's resolution was the same as in 2006: move to the UK. I managed. This year's resolution? Find a job.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
The UK. (and if they count: Belgium and France on the way to the UK)

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Self-confidence and a place of my own.

7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
November 30th-3rd December - I finally moved after talking about it for 20 years and really planning to for 2 years.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
See 7.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not finishing uni again, despite trying very hard.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Yes, the usual assortment of minor self-inflicted injuries.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
The best things I bought were pressies for other people. It's nice to see a friend going 'Ooooooh, shiny,' and be happy.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Many people – most notably, however, a dear friend who's been having a very tough year and dealing with it all with a lot of courage. And even when things were really bad, she still found the time and energy to listen to others whinge.

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled?
There are always a few people, but I can't change them. I can change my own behaviour so I tend to watch out for that more. It's embarrassing when I screw up.

14. Where did most of your money go?
To limbo. I should get it back somewhere this year. The rest of it went into travelling to see friends, and I don't regret it. I could've saved more, I know, but seeing my friends kept me sane the last year.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Finally being able to move. People liking me. Learning how to flirt.

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Desire, Ryan Adams.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?
Happier. Definitely happier.

ii. thinner or fatter?
I've gained weight, which is good.

iii. richer or poorer?
Poorer when it comes to money, but richer in so many more important ways.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Spending more time with those friends I won't be able to see regularly now.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying and panicking

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it with my friends. I've no idea where I'll spend Christmas 2008.

21. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Yes.

22. How many one-night stands?
None.

23. What was your favourite TV programme?
It's a toss-up between Bones and NCIS.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No.

25. What was the best book you read?
Night Watch. First book in ages that I spent reading until the wee hours of the morning.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I tend to discover things years behind everyone else, which is a downside of not listening to popular radio. The upside of not listening to popular radio: I discover things behind everyone else, so the music isn't done to death and by the time everyone else is sick to the back teeth of them, I still get to enjoy them without being bombarded with that one song everywhere I go. Discoveries: Regina Spektor, Bond, Syntax.

27. What did you want and get?
My heart's desire.

28. What was your favourite film of this year?
Hot Fuzz. (I only saw two 2007 movies.)

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Spent the weekend with friends and spent the day itself with a friend. Had dinner with him, my sister and brother in law in the evening.

30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Materially speaking: winning the lottery. Otherwise: getting my degree.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Black.

32. What kept you sane?
My friends. My Shiny.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Hugh Laurie.

34. Who did you miss?
My dad.

35. Who was the best new person you met?
A coworker (by now ex-coworker, of course).

36. Did you enjoy this year?
Yes.

37. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
There isn't one, at least not that I've come across. My life isn't like a song.

38. Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
My sister.

39. What did you want and not get?
My degree.

40. What political issue stirred you the most?
Most of them.

41. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007.
Excrement occurs, but occasionally you get what you've been looking for.
