It seems wrong to do a note to maniac driver when said maniac driver actually hits someone. This complete idiot in his shiny shiny new Range Rover had been trying to stuff it up my exhaust for the past 5 miles. Apparently I am not going fast enough* and at some point he decides to overtake. On a road where that really isn't a good idea when it's virtually empty, let alone on a Friday afternoon.

So, he overtakes and I end up braking hard to let him in again because I a) don't want him to thunder on into oncoming traffic and b) did I mention this is not my car? He can push this Micra off the road without blinking. So now he's stuck between two Micras. And he proceeds to try and climb up the Micra now in front of him.

Anyone want to guess what happened next?

No-one?

I'll just have to guess myself.

The Micra in front slows down a bit because of rather nasty pothole coming up, fuckwitted idiot in nice shiny extension of dick isn't paying attention and drives into the Micra, which promptly and, I somehow suspect, rather involuntarily speeds up again. Now, you'd expect both drivers to pull over as soon as possible, right?

Wrong.

Well, the Micra pulled over. The Range Rover just kept right on trucking. I pulled over and asked the people in the other car if they were okay (thank heavens they were). The passenger got the license plate number and the driver was calling the police. They told me they didn't need my help, so I went on my way. (Housemate later suggested I could've left my number in case they needed a witness. Next time 'll do that. It just completely slipped my mind.)

Someone remind me why I thought a license was a good thing?

* I'm doing the speed limit of that road and, yes, slowing down where needed. I like to keep this car on the road and out of the hedges, honestly. I've always been taught it's terribly bad form to wreck someone else's car.

(Also, I need another WTF?! icon. Something less silly. This one isn't always appropriate.)

ah, tailgaters....it's amazing how slowly one can drive, and if there's no-one in front turning on the headlamps lights the tail lamps and really annoys them...

When I was commuting to work with a partner the same car always tried to drive up the arse of my exes Metro at the same spot every day, before overtaking on a bend when he realised we weren't going to start speeding along a country road to accommodate him. Didn't matter if there was heavy rain, fog, ice, snow... he apparantly hadn't been taught what his brakes were for.

One particularly icy evening he did this same thing and five minutes later we spotted his car almost on its side at the bottom of a steep embankment. We pulled over to see if there was anything we could do, but he'd already managed to pull himself out and get to a nearby house to call a recovery company.

Two weeks later, when he got his nice shiny car back from being repaired, he overtook us on the same spot...

I swear that some people just deserve to have their cars end up in ditches - glad the occupants of the other car were okay and that you weren't hit yourself!
