That was shiny.
That was a proper Doctor Who episode, the way I imagined it was like when listening to people who watched the old Doctor Who series.
It had a Doctor and a companion. I mean, I liked Rose and Martha, but I always felt they ultimately turned out not to be suited as companions. There was a lack of equality between them that I've not noticed between Donna and the Doctor. She doesn't seem to be afraid to tell him he's being an arse, or being bloody stupid, or wrong. I like. (Mind you, I'm sure there's going to be an episode where she turns out to be very wrong, and I look forward to seeing how she'll deal with that one :))
I like Donna and the way she and the Doctor seem to be developing as a duo too. Yay for headstrong companion and headstrong doctor.* Though I have to say that Tennant still isn't able to pull off 'intense' completely.
* Yes, this is all coloured by the whole 'Yay shiny Doctor Who episode!' feeling, but I think I will feel much the same after re-watching it.
