Jul. 13th, 2009 09:55 pmI desire the power to make people's brain go 'phut'*. Unfortunately, I'm torn between 'everyone' and 'specific men of my acquaintance'. This is rather annoying as it means my brain cannot decide between the power to make people's heads explode or the ability to make certain men dribble and go 'guh'.
I hate hormones...
* I initially spelled that as 'hut', which just changes the whole slant of the rest of the post...

Date: 2009-07-13 10:43 pm (UTC)Well, not sure about the first (and to be honest I don't think I really want to think about it too much... *shudders*)..
But I'd say you've nothing to fear on the second point ;)
Yay for insomniac replies ;)
Date: 2009-07-14 02:33 am (UTC)As for the second...perhaps I don't. But still, a focused and controllable 'guh'-inducing ray might be fun. And while I'm at it, some self-confidence'd be appreciated. The latter I can work on, the former...not without some serious genetic manipulation would seem to be in order. :)

Date: 2009-07-14 08:12 am (UTC)You should realise you already have the 'guh' effect you desire on quite a few men.. it's probably not as focussed and controllable as you'd like but if everyone did everything you wanted, life would be a little boring n'est pas?
Re: Yay for insomniac replies ;)
Date: 2009-07-14 11:30 am (UTC)I know it wouldn't go that way. Heck, I've come out and told you and your housemate that you're cute and Definite Intereset is happening and the world didn't end, nor did you laugh in my face. But there's always that annoying part of me that whispers that I might have been mistaken. I was being humoured to avoid a scene.
The solution would be more self-confidence, but that's just hard work, damnit! The 'guh' mind powers would be so much easier and would not need as much work and...yeah.
On the other hand, being more self-confident and self-assured in matters of attraction and flirting would probably get me fewer funny stories along the lines of 'I have daisies!'.
Re: Yay for insomniac replies ;)
Date: 2009-07-14 02:41 pm (UTC)Well, to be honest, I think the answer is just practise telling people you like them. I know it sounds like hard work, but I bet you'll come to enjoy it :)
And for the record (and I think I can speak for
'I have daisies!'?
Oh, also.. how do you feel about beards?

Re: Yay for insomniac replies ;)
Date: 2009-07-14 03:05 pm (UTC)Not bears. Definitely not bears. Unless they're fluffy teddy bears that can be cuddled and don't try to eat one's face.

Date: 2009-07-14 02:44 pm (UTC)I've never asked anyone out, or had the courage to tell them that I'm attracted to them. But if I did, it would come out something like you describe above.
But there's always that annoying part of me that whispers that I might have been mistaken. I was being humoured to avoid a scene
Yes. That too. Along with...
"He doesn't actually fancy me, he just wants to hang out and be mates." (Which is fair enough, especially for someone whose two best friends are both men anyway)
"He doesn't actually fancy me, he just acts like that with everyone." (Which I'm pretty sure is the case quite often)
Re: Yay for insomniac replies ;)
Date: 2009-07-14 03:03 pm (UTC)I suppose we need training in ignoring it when it's obviously talking bollocks.

Funnily enough, I've heard (and occasionally experienced) that the object of interest/affection/oh gods, please notice me now is feeling the exact same way and doesn't know how to approach you either. Isn't humanity fun? :)
