Of jobhunting, gardening and gaming

I've kicked the jobhunting into high gear this week and while I've not had any bites for the jobs I applied for, I am getting nibbles from agencies asking me about last salary, what I'm looking for and reasons for looking for a job. I like those emails (well, the ones obviously sent by people) because I get to make a connection with someone and that has always helped me in the past. I'm still unsure what I want to be when I grow up, though. I do know my idea of working in a nursery has to wait for a bit until I'm sure I've got the life-long gardening affliction rather than the short-lived bug before deciding to make it into a career.

Speaking of gardening; things are growing! The rose I had to hack back because it had been eaten by the honeysuckle has been growing new shoots. One of the shoots has grown about two feet in three weeks. The bed now has many small nasturtiums and you can see the difference in shape and colour too. The ones in the pot (they're all climbing varieties) are also happily growing. Not sure if they're going to do any climbing this season, though. No sign of my poppies, but apparently those seeds can lurk silently for ages before doing anything. The sprouted onions and garlic cloves I planted have emerged as well.

Unfortunately my basil and coriander are very beloved by the slugs and snails. Only to be expected, I suppose. Considering how much sun the back of the house gets, I wonder if a raised planter for soft herbs would be an idea for next spring. It'll be easier to control things in there. And if the mint misbehaves, it could go in there too. Hmmm. Ideas. (Honestly, I need a job just so's I can pay for this wonderful new hobby...)

As for gaming: I've been doing a reasonable amount of it lately. I finally ended up playing Oblivion which is enjoyable. I also ended up buying NWN2 with azekeil and ev1ldonut so we could play multiplayer. We tried that on Thursday and while it was fun, I appear not to play well with others with this one. I wonder if it's because of the type of game or because I just don't play well with others in general when it comes to computer games.

Also having fun with playing D&D with a group of friends. It's got to the point where I kind of want to run my own short adventure (using Gamma World, which azekeil got me for my birthday) and I definitely want to go back into a 3.5 adventure. Also also: there are a ton of boardgames in this house. I mean, there are a lot. Some of them I'd never even heard of and I really want to get a chance to play them. I guess we' need to get our arses in gear so we can clear upstairs. Once that's done, people can actually stay over and chances of playing games will be that much increased.
