Went to the NEC yesterday with [livejournal.com profile] the_hunter and [livejournal.com profile] da_pol. There were many bikes and I spent lots of time going 'Ooooh' at several of them. On the small bike scale, I spent time droolong over a 125CC Yamaha. The big bikes....slightly more choice there. I seem to have fallen in love with a Honda CBF600. sat on one, and I get no immediate twinges from my hip complaining that this is uncomfortable. It's got nice lines, looks easy to maintain (practically no covers to take off before you get to fiddle with the engine and such). The downside is that is 215 kilograms.

Why is this a downside? Well, I am about 54 kilograms. This bike is four times my weight. I foresee problems. However, I was told there is also a 400 version, which is only about 160 (Edit: I had 129, but I think that was me confusing it with the Yamaha) kilograms. I can deal with that and from pictures, it looks like it would not be a position that will kill my hip. I would need to build up my strength before buying one, though.

I also discovered that [livejournal.com profile] the_hunter and [livejournal.com profile] da_pol are geeks. I tried on a leather hat and asked how it looked. Apparently it looked good. Both of them made to take a picture so I could see how it looked, only for the booth owner to turn around holding a mirror. This was amusing.

Dropped [livejournal.com profile] the_hunter off home, where coffee was had, I said 'hello' to Willow and got thoroughly licked, and spent some time snuggling with himself. [livejournal.com profile] da_pol and I went home and talked about smiles and later on about what I would need to get in the way of bike stuff. I'm foreseeing a trip to a store in the next few months to get leathers and boots and a helmet before I take my CBT.

Now I just need to spend time with people that can geek bikes and equipment at me. [livejournal.com profile] ev1ldonut and crew, mind if I come dribble at your bikes for a weekend or so? ;)

*envy*

I'm just at a point where I've accepted that there's no way I can physically manage handling a bike... hope it does work out for you! *huggles*

We had a friend who was about my height and who was also slightly built - he had a 1000cc bike - if he dropped it he had to get help to stand it back up again *lol*

*grin* I'm starting to think I might benefit from carrying a jack with me at all times. Or a portable crane. :)
