Why? Because

a) alpaccas are awesome.
(Okay, I'll grant it that)
b) alpaccas make wool!
(Yyyes. Why do we want one?)
c) with our own wool, we could spin yarn and knit with it!
(Right....kinda cool, but...no.)
d) awww. Please?
(No! For fuck's sake, next thing I know you'll suggest we shave azekeil's and ev1ldonut's cat to practice spinning yarn!)

(Don't. Even. Think. About. It.)

azekeil, ev1ldonut: don't worry, your cats are safe! There will be no shaving of cats, ever. I'm distracting the brain with pictures of pretty, pretty teapots and other cooking related things.

There are people on the internet who, for a sum of money, will take your pet's hair clippings and spin them into yarn. Shaving the cats is not *actually* as unusual as you might think...

(the internet will also provide alpaca clippings should you desire the alpaca experience without an alpaca to spit in your face)

Angorra bunnies are an easier option for "pet that produces a traditionally spun fibre", although I admit alpacas have a certain appeal.

I did read this bit: "next thing I know you'll suggest we shave [info]azekeil's and [info]ev1ldonut's cat" as "next thing I know you'll suggest we shave [info]azekeil's and [info]ev1ldonut's beards".

It does change the meaning somewhat but it'll probably be easier to acquire the "yarn". ;)
