So, I've been playing Ikariam for a while now. This is all fun and shiny and yay. Yesterday, they rolled out an update and they've added some new things and fully implemented things already in place.

Today, I found out one of them. See, you can have cultural treaties with other players. This makes your people happy. When they go inactive and you want to attack them to steal all their money and goods, you get a message saying your people are not happy. And that was it, in the previous version. In the new version, your people really do get upset. Hoo boy, do they ever.

A population growth of -45(ish) an hour for four hours. Rather painful.

So, having warned my fellow players of this, I went on about my business and cancelled a treaty with an inactive player whose towns looked rather tasty. Only I didn't send the treaty cancellation. Hoo boy, are my people fucked off right now. -90 population growth.

Seriously, there are riots in the streets, I saw someone let out all the mechanical frogs, my old people are all huddling in the barracks and my soldiers are...I don't know where most of my soldiers are. I sent some off out into the hills to keep parts of my population safe, seeing as some of my people have left the city and are currently camped out in the hills getting blind drunk and singing rude songs about pretty young women. Oh, and men too. My captain of the guard has informed me that some of his men have requested an easier assigment, like rounding up knife-wielding drunken rioters. Apparently some of the girls out there got rather...ah...amourous and expressed a desire to... (What does this say, captain?)...canoodle. Whatever that is.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be out trying to do some damage control. I think it will involve a lot of shouting and saying sorry.
