Home now.

Had a good weekend filled with snuggling [livejournal.com profile] shevek and exploring Bath and doing Stuff(tm). On Saturday, we went for lunch at Thai Balcony, which easily does the best beef panang I've had and has a stunning décor to boot. Then we wandered into Bath and there were lots of shiny things to look at. Lots of meandering and looking at pretty things (including a stand that sold insects in acryllic. There was a clear acryllic globe, about 5 inches in diametre, which held a full grown brown scorpion. She was stunning. She was also a bit expensive, so instead I bought two earrings, both holding a small scorpion in acryllic. Sooooo shiny.).

And then there was a flea market (where I bought another shiny), an overstuffed second hand clothes shop (where I got a stunning Chinese dress), and the Guild Hall, where [livejournal.com profile] shevek acquired a zip for the new dress and I bought most of Kathy Reichs' books. The evening was spent lounging, watching telly and watching [livejournal.com profile] shevek enjoy themselves mending things. It was lovely.

Today was mostly spent travelling back home and the less said about this the better. I will say the following:

I do not enjoy travelling on Sundays at the best of times. Travelling on a Sunday on British trains; packed into what feels and smells a lot like an overstuffed sardine can on wheels; a stray child humping my leg and generally trying to use my coat for a game of 'Let's hide from daddy'; and controlled by someone who's got the microphone technique of an epileptic banana, is not, and I think you may be tempted to agree with me here, the best of times.

All in all, I am home. I have tea and in a bit I shall have a beer. Maybe I'll be bad and have two.
