Tonight I bake.

sessifetIn fact, tonight I bake this ginger cake. Why? Well, I love ginger and had all the ingredients except the vegetable oil and besides, it looks like fun.
Also, I'd like to bring something nice to Munchkin weekend. What better way to introduce yourself to people you have never met before in your life by bringing them cake wot you made with your own two hands?
For the first time...
Without time to test it on anyone...
With somewhat arcane instructions in the recipe...
Oh dear.
Oh well, no turning back now.
Did you know that adding honey, sugar and vegetable oil together leads to something which resembles a gelatinous cube which has lost its structural integrity? It's quite fun to poke for a bit. Add...boiling water with two teaspoons of baking soda dissolved in it? Ooookay. Let's do this.
Er...and now my kitchen smells of sex. This is not a smell I normally associate with baking, let me tell you. But, we soldier bravely onwards, glancing suspiciously at the recipe and the mixture of wet ingredients. 'Stir in the dry ingredients.' I can do that! I have a mixer!
Hmmm...let's not use the mixer. And clean the sides once this thing is in the oven. And change my shirt. Mix in the dry ingredients by hand. It...looks gloopy. But battery. And a bit lumpy. Okay...Pour the mixture into the round cake tin and put in the oven. Eye the thing suspiciously behind glass. My kitchen still smells like someone shot a porn movie in it and it's getting worse.
Sit down, wibble on IRC a bit and realise I forgot on key thing: eggs. There are no eggs in the batter! I forgot the eggs! Fucksticks.
I'll have to wait an hour to see what this will turn out as. I've just put foil over the top to stop it from getting too dark. My kitchen no longer smells like sex, but quite spicy and nice actually. This may turn out okay. Except for the fact that the stuff in the tin wobbles. It has, however, increased in size quite a lot.
I'll let you know what happens.
