So...Stuff Happened! And Things, too.
Feb. 8th, 2011 09:20 pmThere was Christmas and there was a SessiMum, who brought manylots of things including a sewing machine, another chair (in return she took the futon which Sammie fell in love with when she was visiting in the summer. Lo! Sammie is a spoiled dog of epic proportions), manylots of nice Dutch goodies (
hobnobs I hope you finished your last batch of 'spekkies', because there's another bag for you here...), gossip, news and some much needed motherly common sense. I fed her proper roast potatoes for the first time ever on Christmas Day. They went down well.
A New Year happened. First New Year's spent with
azekeil. Unplanned, but it was nice. I inflicted 'Dinner For One' on him.
Just before Christmas I came down with and recovered from my first Real Proper Flu in about 15 years and have been back to normal for about...three weeks now.
I had big budgetting Win: I managed to have exactly the amount of money left at the end of four weeks that I budgetted for!
I had budgetting Fail: I managed to forget that the gap between December and January pay is 6 weeks, not 4 weeks. D'oh!
I had further budgetting Win: I did budget for six weeks, but ran out because work underpaid me by about £200. This is in the process of being rectified.
I had Best Beloved Win and Not So Much Win at the same time because he came to visit twice for at least five days in quick succession and there was no 'nice to be seeing you, bye now!' at the end, but instead 'd'you really have to go? *sadface*'.
I did not throw my hip out once in the last six weeks!
I managed to start enjoying my job again.
There was an Drama Llama of Epic proportions. It was not pretty. It was not nice. There was hurt all around. Hopefully it will fade over time.
There were awesome conversations with several people about all kinds of stuff. Brain-hurts-now thinking kind of stuff.
I did not get made redundant (probably).*
I got to enjoy A&E from a patient perspective last night due to an errant fishbone. This is an experience I prefer not to repeat anytime soon, really (both A&E and the fishbone).
In short: I live.
I've had fights and arguments and discussions, talks and hugs and snuggles and love. I've spent RL time with a few people and online time with even more people. I've got plans and ideas and all kinds of stuff I want to to show to people.
The start of 2011 has been pretty much like this post: all over the place.
* We knew we were probably not going to be made redundant. Today we were told we are 'provisionally mapped in the new structure'. Meaning that we now definitely know we're probably not going to be made redundant.
