Tomorrow it will have been five years since I wrote this. Today it has been five years since I was dropped off in the UK with all the earthly belongings that would fit in half a Lexus and was welcomed home. And in a nice and totally unintentional bit of symmetry, I spent the weekend with
the_ladylark in a cold, dark place in the North Wet with shops and houses showing Christmas lights and decorations and making the world seem ever so slightly magical*.
And now I'm home, looking at the rest of the month filled with spending time with even more much loved friends and family and I realise I am pretty damned lucky and happy. Life in the UK hasn't been as I expected, but it also has been better than I ever dreamed.
Here's to the next five years.
*I also had my first true Christmas pub dinner. Not so magical. Though both starter and dessert made the overall dinner enjoyable, as opposed to an abomination before the Great Squid. I feel the Great Squid does not approve of chipolatas.
